In Between Times

Marcus The workshop has been a bit quiet recently as I've been doing detailed design and cutting lists for the bookcases. However as is usual between finishing one big job and starting another I have managed to grab a couple of days to improve the workshop and fettle tools.
I used to feel a bit self indulgent doing this, feeling that I should just plough on with the next job. More recently I have come to realise just how vital this habit is to the quality of the work I produce. I now know that in improving the workshop I am already working on the next project - because all the little improvements have a cumulative effect on the efficiency of the shop, as well as on the pleasure and ease in working in it. This leaves more energy free to focus on the finer details in the work I do for clients.
